INDIAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OF TALLAHASSEE (INSAT)

Goals:
The purpose of the association is to promote the cultural life of its members through the individual and group activities; and to be actively involved in helping new Indian student’s settle down.
Article 1: Membership
The membership of the association is open to all students at FSU.
Members shall abide to the rules and regulations of INSAT.
Article 2: Officers
The following offices would be established:
I. President II. Vice- President
III. Event Coordinator IV. Secretary V. Treasurer.
The election for the above offices would be held annually and the term of the office would be for one year. A faculty advisor will be associated with the association.

Article 3: Office Bearers Duties
President: The president would preside over the meetings of the association. He/ She will exercise general supervision over the work of other members of the executive committee. He/ She will be the custodian of the constitution of the association. He/ She will be responsible for the registration of the association with FSU. He/ She may serve notice for a general body meeting. He/ She will be responsible for leading the association in a positive and productive direction and for encouraging spirit and motivation amongst the members by actively leading the team on current and incoming student related issues. The President will actively take part along with the whole team of INSAT in organizing Extra-Curricular events and Welcoming New Indian Students and will provide all the support needed
Vice- President: He/ She would participate as an executive committee member and collaborate with the President by looking into issues involving the Indian Student population at FSU and also issues relating to incoming students. This would involve overall activity planning involving both “Current/Incoming student issues” and “Ways to promote extracurricular activities in the community of Indian students” In the event of absence of President, or when the President desires; the powers and the functions of the President would be transferred to the Vice- President.
Event Coordinator: The Event coordinator would specifically work on ways to promote Indian Culture and Heritage through the organization of various Extra-Curricular activities for the benefit of the Indian Student community at FSU. This would be in the form of festival celebrations and organization of special events for cultural enhancement and student well being. All committee members would help facilitate the organization of such events and would work in cohesion with the Event coordinator.
Secretary: The Secretary will be in charge of the general association and supervision of the affairs of the association. He/ She may invite any policy and will keep the President posted with the programs and activities of the association. He/ She will also maintain a membership roster (records and webpage) of the association. He/ She shall keep records and attendance of all meetings and activities of INSAT.
Treasurer: He/ She shall be involved in the maintenance of the accounts and deposition and utilization of association funds. He/ She will keep a record of all monetary transactions of the association. He/ She shall create a report of budgets, each semester to the association.
Article 4: Amendment
The amendment to the constitution would be made by a simple majority.
There would be at- least two general body meeting of the association every semester.
The time and the place of the meeting would be announced at least 7 days in advance.
For INSAT members:
(a) All members have the authority to go through the financials of INSAT.
(b) INSAT members will provide full support for extra-curricular events.
(c) INSAT is not responsible for misconduct of its members, in individual or group. (d) All INSAT members are promoted to make use of all the facilities provided by FSU.
