Advance Technology: Why do we need it?
The Energy Crisis
vehicles in the world run on fossil fuels. The cars that we drive rely on
fossil fuels and the need for it grows everyday. 60% of transportations use
fossil fuels and more and more is needed to meet the demand. The constant
reliance on fossil fuels and the tie that it has on countries economies creates
a dangerous situation if the world continues on its current path. Recent events
over the past few years have shown a huge jump in gasoline prices. After 9/11
gas has reached nearly a range of $75 to $100 dollars a barrel and gas at the
pumps has reached an average of $2.20 in the state of
chart, even though it does not represent the current situation, shows how much
world’s population has reached in the billions has of recently.
Engineers have to come up with new ways of inventing and producing things to try and meet the world’s demand. This creates a need to invent and modernize new technologies that help limit the use of resources or create new ways of making something that costs less to make. At the same time it can solve the resource issue. As stated earlier, as the population grows so does supply and demand. Engineers have to come up with ways to continue to meet the demands of the growing population and still keep everything in check. The development of new technologies can help with this
This has always been an issue that engineers have been dealing with for a long time. When developing a product engineers have to make sure that it meets certain environmental standard as to help limit pollution. An example is the fumes that fossil fuels give off from cars. The CO2 and other gases have been proven to assist in the Greenhouse Effect.
As this continues it creates
a problem of Global warming. If the temperature of the planet changes by a few
degrees the effects could be disastrous. These changes can create weather
problems such as increase Hurricanes, unusually cold winters and extremely dry summers.
This effect can have damaging effects on eco-systems and cities. Hurricane
Katrina is believed to be a result of these warmer temperatures. Warmer
temperatures created warmer waters in the
If the world is to survive more advanced technology and new methods of production must be developed to avoid these problems.
