FAMU-FSU COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering was established by the Florida Board of Regents, in 1982. Evolving from modest beginnings with only 35 students to today’s thriving campus of over 2000. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has built nationally recognized academic and research programs. The college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in five fields of engineering. Those fields are: Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Two other new disciplines include BioChemical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The college's primary goals are to educate engineers of excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, judged by the highest standards in the field and recognized by national peers; to attract and graduate a greater number of African Americans, women and other minorities into professional engineering, engineering teaching and research; and to attain national and international recognition of the college through the educational, research and the professional service of its faculty and students. Its inevitable that in the approaching 21st century, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering will be one of the top engineering colleges in the country.
ENGINEERING BUILDING II AND III
The present College of Engineering Building has expanded because of the need for a permanent solution to the space problem especially since the College expects to enroll close to 2500 or more students in the year 2002. This building is referred to as building A. Building II is referred to as building B. Building II offers relief by providing additional classrooms and faculty offices to satisfy the present level of faculty staff and students. However, the new Engineering Building III is needed to accommodate an electronic library, an auditorium, additional teaching and research laboratories, a Product Technology Center, student study halls, graduate student offices, a lounge and a cafeteria.
