The main
goal of this project is to construct a handheld breath condensation device
efficient enough to provide an accurate reading regarding the condition of a
patient’s lungs in less than ten minutes. Specifically,
the breath condensate will be analyzed externally for such inflamation
indicators as an abnormal hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)
level as well as a high pH level. As a result, the physician can more
accurately prescribe a treatment to curb the inflammation with the
patient's lungs and maintain his or her respiratory health. Ideally,
the device will be accurate,
cost effective, and user friendly enough to be utilized within a doctor’s
office, a hospital exam room, or potentially, even a patient’s home. |
