Course
Objective:
The objective of
this course is to teach students how to maximize the potential of their
desktop workstations. This course will focus on website development and
the capabilities of Microsoft Office 97 Professional. If you do your job,
attend class and do the assignment, you will have a thorough knowledge
of the commonly used applications in engineering at the undergraduate level.
Book
List:
Grauer, Robert T.
and Maryann Barber, Exploring Microsoft Office 97 Professional (Vol.
I).
Evaluations:
Your final grade
will be determined by how you do on the six course projects and how much
you participate in class. The projects will count 100 each, and the quizzes
will count 10 points each. 50 points of your final grade will be determined
by a group project and 50 points for class participation (Classroom and
Website). Obviously, you can not make great contributions to class discussions
if you are not here. Therefore, I highly recommend that you make every
effort to attend all classes. There will be no extensions on project deadlines.
For each class day that one of your projects is late, a penalty of one
letter grade will be levied. Your projects will be graded for content,
spelling, grammar, punctuation, language, organization, originality and
ability to follow instructions.
Attendance:
Students are strongly
urged to attend all classes. The majority of your course projects will
be based directly on class content. Attendance will be taken daily. If
you show-up for class late once or twice, I will overlook it, but if you
consistently come to class late, it will affect your grade.
Grading:
| Assignment | Possible Points | |
| Project #1 | 100 | |
| Project #2 | 100 | |
| Project #3 | 100 | |
| Project #4 | 100 | |
| Project #5 | 100 | |
| Final Project | 100 | |
| Group Project | 50 | |
| Quiz 1 | 10 | |
| Quiz 2 | 10 | |
| Quiz 3 | 10 | |
| Quiz 4 | 10 | |
| Participation | 50 | |
| Total | 740 | |
Grading
Scale:
A 740-660; B 659-592; C 591-518;
D 517-444; F 443 and below.
You must make a
C in the course to receive credit in Industrial Engineering.
Academic
Honesty:
The Academic Honor
Code states that "Each student has the responsibility to uphold the highest
standards of academic integrity." Violations of the Honor Code will be
handled in accordance with the Student Handbook rules.
Students
with Disabilities:
Students with disabilities
covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act should follow these steps:
1. Provide documentation of your disability to the Student Disability Resource Center
2. Bring a statement from the Student Disability Resource Center indicating that you have registered with them to your instructor the first week of class. The statement should indicate the special accommodations you require.
