COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• To learn the fundamentals of engineering dynamics and elementary vibrations, and to introduce students to elementary control concepts.
• To Learn techniques for evaluating and solving engineering problems.
• To develop good study habits.
• To prepare students for EML 3014C-Dynamic systems II and EML 3017C-Mechanical systems I.
• To prepare students for competence in the workplace.

PREREQUISITES

A student is required to have taken and passed (with C or better) the following courses:

• PHY 3048, Physics I
• MAC 3311, Calculus I
• MAC 3312, Calculus II

The instructor reserves the right to drop a student who has not met these prerequisites from the course.

GRADING

Grading is at the discretion of the instructor and the TA. Grades for homework, quizzes, and exams will be considered only within two weeks after which the homework, quiz or exam is returned. The final grade is based on the following apportionment:

• (Group Homework        10%
• (Group Lab Reports        5%
• Group Project                  10%
• Quiz Average & 3 Exams     50% (3 highest grades will count 15% each)
• Final Exam                       25%

* The homework and Lab assignments may have some components that will involve individual and not group grades.
