Announcements

01/18/2013
Students are encouraged to attend the AIAA student section meeting next Sunday, 1/27, at 1:00 pm in B135.

01/15/2013
Lecture notes for extended surface heat transfer (Experiment 3) have been added under Experiments and Downloads and can be accessed here.

The LabVIEW tutorials will be held in A109 at the following times: Tuesday 01/22 9:00-10:45 & 4:45-6:30 and Thursday 01/24 4:45-6:30 only. Please attend your assigned section. If you are in the Thursday morning section, please attend one of the other three for this first week.

Group Assignments have been posted. Please check your section and group letter by clicking the link on the left.

The lecture from 01/10 has been posted here.

Purpose
The purpose of this laboratory is to reinforce and enhance your understanding of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics and heat transfer learned in Thermal-Fluids I & II, EML 3015C and EML 3016C, respectively. The experiments are relatively simple; they are designed to demonstrate the applications of the basic fluid and thermal science principles and to provide a more intuitive and physical understanding of these disciplines. The objective is also to introduce a variety of modern and classical experimental and diagnostic techniques, and the principles behind these techniques. This laboratory exercise also provides practice in making engineering judgments, estimates and assessing the reliability of your measurements, skills which are very important for any successful engineer.
