Announcements
04/22/2009
As announced in class, the FINAL EXAM is optional. However, if you do not want to take the
final exam YOU MUST SIGN THE SHEET during Lecture on Thursday, April 22.
If you do not sign it, your final grade will be counted (whether you show up for it or not).
Conversely, if you sign up electing not to take the exam your final will not be counted
(even if you take it).
Grades have been updated
on BlackBoard and the course webpage. The grades posted are out
of 85 total points. The Letter Grades have been adjusted as follows:
A - 90 to 100
B - 80 to 90
C - 65 to 80
D - 55 to 65
F - Below 55
Purpose
The purpose of this laboratory is to reinforce and
enhance your understanding of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics and heat transfer learned
in Thermal-Fluids I & II, EML 3015C and EML 3016C, respectively. The experiments are relatively
simple; they are designed to demonstrate the applications of the basic fluid and thermal science
principles and to provide a more intuitive and physical understanding of these disciplines. The
objective is also to introduce a variety of modern and classical experimental and diagnostic
techniques, and the principles behind these techniques. This laboratory exercise also provides
practice in making engineering judgments, estimates and assessing the reliability of your measurements,
skills which are very important for any successful engineer.
