Jae Yun received his B.S. in Telecommunications at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. In 2005 he received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Jae Yun received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Florida State University researching optimization of robotic curved leg designs for running stability, efficiency and speed by exploiting passive properties. He joined the STRIDe Lab in January of 2008 and graduated with his PhD in December 2011.

Jae Yun is now working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Institut des Systemes Intelligents et de Robotique (ISIR) at the Universite de Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) in Paris, France.

Masters Degree

James Dickson
James received his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in April of 2012 and his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering & Anthropology in May of 2010. His research focused primarily on the development of the first high-speed dynamic climbing and gliding robotic platform as part of a new class of robots termed 'Adaptive Robotic Multi-Modal Systems' or ARM2S. The ICAROS platform demonstrated the first capabilities of a robot to climb vertically at speeds of up to 13 cms-1 and glide away. As part of this research James also developed the second fastest climbing robot, the Bipedal Oscillating roBot (BOB) capable of climbing at up to 40 cms-1 in a simple and robust platform of only 200g. He joined the STRIDe Lab in May 2009 and left in October of 2012.

James is a Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer with Boeing Space & Defense in Houston, Texas. His primary duties are in support of the International Space Station.
