Civil Engineering Student wins Seminole Leadership Award
Tara Kulkarni, a graduate student in Civil & Environmental Engineering was honored with the FSU Student Seminole Award for Leadership 2002 at the Awards Night on April 4th. She was one of 10 FSU students to receive this award.
Ms. Kulkarni was recognized for outstanding academic standing and participation in extracurricular activities and community service. She has been Vice-president of the College chapter of the Society of Women Engineers and is a mentor with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Big Bend. She plans to work with faculty of the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department to develop a program in environmental education for elementary and middle school students in the Tallahassee area.
Ms. Kulkarni received her B. S. from the College of Engineering in Pune, India, MS from the University of Toledo Ohio, and entered the FAMU-FSU doctoral program in Civil & Environmental Engineering in the fall of 2000. Her doctoral program minor is in Toxicology through FAMU's College of Pharmacy. She is a member of the Air and Waste Management Association and other professional societies and will be listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the year 2002.
