FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Receives $24,000 in Scholarships

Progress Energy Foundation presented the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering with $24,000 for 12 new scholarships in a presentation ceremony held at the College. The "Progress Energy Scholarships" will be available to juniors and seniors majoring in civil and environmental engineering or electrical and computer engineering.

Dean Ching-Jen Chen accepted the gift from Tom Tuckey, Community Relations Manager for Florida Power, a Progress Energy company. Representatives of the Florida A&M University Foundation and the Florida State University Foundation also attended. Dr. Jerry Wekezer, Professor and Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Dr. Reginald Perry, Professor and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering, represented the two engineering departments.

"Progress Energy is proud to present this investment in education to assist deserving students at both FSU and FAMU," Tuckey said.
