BlackboardPlanning Grants Awarded to COE Faculty
The FSU Council on Research and Creativity announced the award of planning grants to three College of Engineering faculty. The awards are presented to encourage development of research proposals for attracting outside funding which supports scholarly research and creative activity.
This spring awards were made to:
- Abhijit Deshmukh (Industrial Engineering) and Steve Durbin (Electrical Engineering) for a proposal "Laser-based Precision Decontamination of Microcavities"
- Chuck Zhang (Industrial Engineering) for a proposal "Functional Tolerancing Study for Low Cost and High Precision Component Manufacturing"
The awards can be up to $6,000 for one year. The success of these awards is indicated by the fact that the University has generated about $25 of contract-and-grant funding for each $1 spent on planning grants.
