Wanda Parker-Garvin Named Among Top Minority Women in Science & Engineering

FAMU-FSU Alumna Wanda Parker-Garvin was honored by the National Technical Association as one of the Top Minority Women for contributions to academia, industry, government and the non-profit sector.

Mrs. Parker-Garvin, a 1990 graduate in Civil Engineering, is an engineer with the Division of Water Facilities, Industrial Wastewater Section, of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. She served from 1993-1998 on the Board of Directors of the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research, and was appointed to the Executive Committee of the Engineering Advisory Council of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in 1997. She received the Super Partners Award of Primerica Financial Services.

Mrs. Parker-Garvin is also active with the National Society of Black Engineers, the Lincoln Neighborhood Center in Tallahassee, and is a volunteer tutor in the Leon County schools. She serves as acting president of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Alumni Association.
