Christina Newburgh (Civil & Environmental Engineering M.S. graduate, 2007) was recently elected founding president of the local chapter of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). She is also an engineer intern at Barkley Consulting Engineers of Tallahassee. Green building is an emerging trend in the building industry and offers many benefits, including increased productivity, improved health, conservation of Earth's resources, and reduced operation and maintenance costs. The USGBC holds bi-monthly educational programs, aimed at educating local builders and designers about green building and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system.
