Lannutti Memorial Lecture and Dinner November 19th
The College of Engineering will sponsor a Memorial Lecture and Dinner honoring Dr. Joseph E. Lannutti, late Professor of Physics at FSU, on November 19, 1999.
Dr. Lannutti was a moving force in the establishment of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. After the Engineering Science Program at FSU was discontinued he became influential in the revitalization of an engineering school in Tallahassee and was active in the studies which led to the formation of the College in 1982. He served, together with Dr. Charles Kidd of FAMU, as Co-director of the College until 1984.
The College of Engineering established a fund in Dr. Lannutti's memory for a lectureship on a topic of current interest in engineering. Dr. C. Paul Robinson, President of Sandia Corporation, was selected as the 1999 Lecturer. He received his doctorate in physics from FSU and had been a student of Dr. Lannutti. Dr. Robinson will speak on "The Emerging Revolution in Engineering and Manufacturing" at the College at 3 PM.
A dinner in honor of Dr. Lannutti will be held at the University Center Club at the FSU University Center at 6:30 PM November 19, and will feature a retrospective of many of the events that led to the founding of the College.
