International Road Federation Scholars in the Civil Engineering Graduate Program

Mr. Able Chiteshe (Zambia) & Mr. Kwame Korankye-Adjei (Ghana)

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has been selected to be honored with two International Road Federation Fellowship Programme Scholars as a part of the Graduate Program. The Scholars are Mr. Able Chiteshe of Zambia and Mr. Kwame Korankye-Adjei of Ghana. The International Road Federation Fellowship Programme provides transportation technology to foreign countries by recruiting and funding international students from different parts of the world and sending them to the best universities in the world for additional knowledge and experience. . Candidates are selected by host country sponsors on the basis of strong academic backgrounds, professional qualifications and leadership potential. Florida A&M University has been honored to have two of the scholars enroll at the university for the Fall 2000 semester in the graduate program of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Mr. Chiteshe was born in Kabwe Town Zambia. He is married and has one son. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Zambia in Civil Engineering in July 1998. He was employed with the Government of Zambia in the Ministry of Local Government and Housing in the area of Transportation where his responsibilities included preparation of technical reports on local authorities1 programs to facilitate their execution; monitoring programs to ensure timely and efficient execution; management of contracts and monitoring the planning, construction and maintenance of the urban roads throughout the entire country of Zambia. He desires to pursue a Masters of Science Degree in Transportation Engineering (Transport Planning, Systems, Operations and Infrastructure); Highway engineering and construction management (Design and Maintenance of Infrastructure including pavement materials). Mr. Korankye-Adjei was born in Accra Ghana. He is married and has two children. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi Ghana in 1985 and Adisadel College in Cape Coast, Ghana in 1979. He has been a Maintenance Engineer in charge of the maintenance of trunk road networks in the Western Region, Upper West Region, Eastern Region and currently he is currently employed with the Ghana Highway Authority as Project Manager-Mobile Maintenance Unit I where he is directly responsible for the periodic maintenance of some selected trunk roads and conducts research trials on any new methods of road/pavement construction and surface dressing techniques. He desires to pursue a Masters of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with Pavement Management as an area of interest.
