Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee Wins Grand Prize in Worldwide IMAX Marketing Contest
Grassroots efforts and creativity nabbed the Challenger Learning Center (CLC) the top spot in IMAX's Born to be Wild 3D Theatre Marketing Contest. The marketing campaign, led by Jessie Watson, Marketing Specialist, incorporated local outreach, online initiatives, in-theatre contests, social media, advertising, publicity and themed special events to create a comprehensive marketing campaign for the new IMAX documentary film, Born to be Wild 3D.
As a non-profit organization, the CLC faced the task of marketing the new film with limited financial resources. The CLC leveraged promotional resources provided by IMAX, as well as community partnerships and the support of both Florida State University and Florida A&M University. Techniques that encouraged word-of-mouth, in conjunction with a quality product and superior customer service were the hallmarks of this campaign.
The campaign garnered enormous attention and created impressive exposure for the new film. The efforts of the marketing campaign led to Born to be Wild 3D being one of the most highly attended IMAX films in the CLC IMAX's history.
For participating in the contest, IMAX Corporation adopted an orphan elephant on behalf of the CLC from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The elephant's name is Napasha. Thought to be a victim of poaching, Napasha was found at 9 months old, laying down, having lost both its mother and will to live. He is now 9-years-old and living in Tsavo East National Park in Kenya with 60 other rescued orphan elephants.
Narrated by Academy-Award® winner Morgan Freeman, Born to be Wild 3D is an inspiring story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. Born to be Wild 3D is now playing at the CLC IMAX Theatre. For showtimes call (850) 644-4629 or visit the CLC's website, www.challengertlh.com.
About the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a small, flexible charity, established in 1977 to honour to memory of a famous Naturalist, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya, where he served from its inception in 1948 until his transfer to Nairobi in 1976 to head the Planning Unit of the newly created Wildlife Conservation & Management Department. David died 6 months later but his legacy of excellence and the systems he installed for the management of Tsavo and wildlife generally in Kenya, particularly in the sphere of wildlife husbandry and ethics, lives on.
