Engineering Day Career Exposition
The Florida A&M University - Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering held the Engineering Day Career Exposition on September 28th, 2006, sponsored by Florida State University Career Center. With over 100 companies and government organizations, such as Medtronic, Harris Corporation, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and Shell in attendance, as well as nearly 600 registered students, this event was truly successful. Feedback received by corporations reflected the diversity and quality of our engineering students.
The annual Career Expo provides students, faculty, staff, and employers the opportunity to make connections and build partnerships; a win-win situation for all. Participating organizations not only benefit from the diverse group of students enrolled at the college, but in addition, companies benefited by increasing contact with College of Engineering faculty and staff. Students profited from interactions with company representatives who gave details regarding position openings and first hand information regarding company culture and expectations. Students also gained knowledge about various companies' lines of business, history and backgrounds. Recruiters also shared techniques with students that will help ease the transition from college to work.
Engineering Day 2006 was held in conjunction with the meetings of the College Advisory Council in which corporate input has an impact on engineering teaching and research, and engineering as a profession.
