Rafal Wuttrich of Tczew, Poland was awarded a prestigious fellowship by the International Road Federation to complete his doctoral studies in Civil Engineering through the Department of Civil Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida.
The International Road Federation is based in Washington D.C. and Geneva, Switzerland. The Federation was established in 1948 to promote road development as a key factor in economic and social growth. The Federation is comprised of over 600 companies, associations and governments worldwide to provide developing countries with professional training and expertise.
Mr. Wuttrich received his BS and MS degrees (1994) from the Technical University of Gdansk in Poland. He selected the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering because of the crashworthiness research conducted by Dr. Jerry Wekezer of the Civil Engineering Department at the Computer Impact Simulation Laboratory. Research projects include crashworthiness of roadside safety barriers, structural retrofit of existing bridge rails, and structural integrity studies.
