Chemical Engineering Receives Prize Paper Award

Michael Kirkpatrick, Research Associate Wright Finney, and Prof. Bruce Locke received the "James Melcher Prize Paper Award" of the Industry Application Society IEEE for their paper "Reticulated Vitreous Carbon Electrodes for Gas Phase Pulsed Corona Reactors", published in IAS Transaction during the year 2000.

The award consists of a certificate and cash award to each of the authors. The award was presented at the IAS Annual Meeting in Chicago in October 2001.

The research deals with the removal of nitrogen oxide pollutants from gas streams by means of corona discharge reactions, and has been an ongoing project in the Chemical Engineering Department.
