A Shorter Round-Trip Between Campuses

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida A&M University, Florida State University and StarMetro, the city of Tallahassee's transit service, have added new routes to the Seminole Express and Venom Express bus services beginning this Wednesday. Two separate buses will run the new routes, one new route between FAMU and the College of Engineering and the other new route between FSU and the College of Engineering.

"By splitting the previous College of Engineering route (Engineering Shuttle #43) into two routes, each university will see a decrease in wait times, which we hope will lead to a potential increase in ridership," Ron Garrison, director of StarMetro, said.

During fall and spring semesters, each university's engineering route will operate Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. During the summer semester, the two routes will operate Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Both FAMU and FSU students, faculty and staff can ride for free on any StarMetro bus, including the Seminole Express service, or the Venom Express I and II service, with a valid FAMU or FSU ID card.

"Given $4-per-gallon gasoline prices, lack of available land for parking lots and the university's 'green' initiatives, we are pleased that through our partnership with StarMetro, we were able to add this additional service this year," said Paul Strouts, FSU's associate vice president for Finance and Administration.
