Tallahassee Students Compete in Bridge-design Contest
On Saturday, students got a chance to see if they had what it takes to successfully build a bridge and get a simulated truck safely over it.
The Tallahassee Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering hosted the first Tallahassee-Area West Point Bridge Design Competition.
The students used a special computer program for their designs.
Although there's a statewide competition, this was the first time a local competition occurred. Students were judged on their bridge designs and how well they could keep their mock building costs down.
A total of 46 middle-school students competed in the event.
