COE Students to Participate in Formula Hybrid Competition
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering will be represented at the International Formula Hybrid Competition for the first time by a team of students who are designing a Formula Hybrid vehicle as their Senior Design Project. Their project is multidisciplinary, involving students from both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and with assistance from the student professional organizations of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc. (SAE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE).
The Formula Hybrid competition challenges students to design, build and race high-performance, plug-in hybrid vehicles. The hybrid competition differs from the Formula SAE program by adding a level of complexity of fuel efficiency.
Formula Hybrid's 2010 competition will be held on May 3-6 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudin, NH and is a design and engineering challenge for undergraduate and graduate university students.
