COE to Host Sixth International Symposium on Flow Modeling and Turbulence Measurement
September, 1996
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering will host the Sixth International Symposium on Flow Modeling and Turbulence Measurement, September 8-10, at the Turnbull Center of Florida State University. It is sponsored jointly by the College, the International Association of Hydraulic Research, the Japan Central Research Institute of The Electric Power Industry and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The goal of the meeting is to allow for information exchange between international researchers and engineers concerned with new technology in flow modeling and turbulence measurements and their applications. It is the sixth in a series of meetings which began in Paris in 1982. Its main themes include the collaboration between computational and experimental researchers in fluid mechanics, issues related to turbulent fluid phenomena, energy exchange, and the environmental impact of the development of thermal and hydraulic systems.
FSU's Vice-President for Research and Prof. of Electrical Engineering Dr. Susan Allen will welcome the participants at the Conference opening on Sunday morning, Sept. 8, in the Everglades Auditorium. The conference objectives will be highlighted by invited keynote presentations by Dr. J. P. Chabard of France, Dr. C.-M. Ho of the United States and Dr. M. Tagawa of Japan, and will feature over one hundred presentations from twenty countries throughout the world. The Conference was organized by Dean Ching-Jen Chen and co-chaired by Prof. Chiang Shih of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
