Dr. Chandra Elected as Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
Dr. Namas Chandra of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Chandra's research interests are in the application of finite element methods in the study of solid mechanics. He is also Director of the College's Division of Graduate Study and Research.
In addition to this latest recognition, Dr. Chandra received the Developing Scholar Award in 1993; the Certificate of Appreciation of the American Metallurgical Society in 1992; the Outstanding Service to the Profession Award of the Florida Engineering Society in 1990; and Certificates of Appreciation from NASA in 1989 and 1992 and from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in 1989 and 1990.
