DAQ & Striker Upgrade for a Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar
Our project is being sponsored by Dr. Joel House from Eglin Air Force Base's Munitions Directorate which is a branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Our project goal is to continue last year's senior design project by upgrading their existing system; two specific areas of focus are the striker bar mechanism and the data acquisiton system. It is our goal to improve the striker velocity such that we are able to reliably reproduce strain rates of at least 500MPa and at the same time improve the data aquistion system's sampling rate to provide a high level of resolution in the gathered data.
