 Tallahassee Technology Solutions (TTS) was formed in September 2000 for the Mechanical Engineering Senior Design class (EML 4551) at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Engineering design coursework was taught during lectures and the design team incorporated that knowledge into the design project. Emphasis was placed on the design process, including product specifications, concept generation and selection, project planning, detailed design and engineering economics. TTS was assigned to a project sponsored by Talla-Com Industries located in Tallahassee, Florida. The design team had the opportunity to interact with professional engineers at Talla-Com and apply some of the skills learned during lectures. TTS worked as a team through the design process with Dean Chen acting as a consultant to the group. Dean Chen's guidance and knowledge steered the group along the Engineering design path. Each member of TTS learned a life-long lesson from Dean Chen. Tallahassee Techonology Solutions' success can be attributed to team effort which is the key ingredient in Engineering design. Responsibilities were divided and tasks were shared among the team members. This design project has equipped the graduating Engineering students with vital tools for a successful Engineering career. Dr. Cesar Luongo can be accredited as the force behind the senior design class.
