Simone
Peterson Hruda, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering,
received her Ph.D. and S.M. degrees in Ceramics from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in 1992 and 1987, respectively. She received her
B.S. in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in
1984. Prior to joining the Department in 1994, Dr. Peterson Hruda was
a Staff Engineer in the Advanced Sintering Processing Department at the
IBM Microelectronics East Fishkill facility. She currently teaches courses
in thermodynamics and materials science and engineering. Dr. Peterson
Hruda's research interests include materials processing, focusing on sintering,
microstructural evolution, and texture development in ceramic materials.
