Dr. M. Y. Hussaini
is Professor of Mathematics, holder of the TMC Eminent Scholar Chair
in High Performance Computing, Affiliate Professor of Mechanical
Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Computer Science. He helped
set up the School of Computational Science and Information Technology,
for which he was awarded the honorary title of Founding
Director. Before coming to Florida State University in 1996, he was
the Director of the Institute for Computer Applications in Science and
Engineering (ICASE) at the NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton,
VA. He received his Ph.D. in engineering from the University of
California at Berkeley in 1970, and his B.S. and M.S. degrees in
mathematics and physics from the University of Madras, India.
He has published over 150 articles, co-authored one book and edited or
co-edited 20 volumes. He is editor-in-chief of Theoretical and
Computational Fluid Dynamics, editor of Applied Numerical Mathematics,
and of Computing in Science and Engineering. Dr. Hussaini's research
interests include numerical algorithms for solving partial
differential equations and parallel computation on high-performance
computers, computational fluid dymanis including electromagnetics,
nanofluid mechanics, design optimization (including risk-based
design), uncertainty quantification and scientific visualization.
