Committees differ like the people on them. Some committees will probe for your strengths, while others will attempt to find weaknesses that may need consideration. Obviously, if a committee looks for weaknesses, they will probably find some. That does not necessarily mean that you are doing poorly on the exam. Stay calm. Conversely, if a committee looks for strengths, their expectations might be higher.
Similarly, the selection of questions asked about is up to the committee members. In past exams, some committee members have restricted themselves to the material listed in section 3, ``Areas Covered'', but this is not formally required. You might of course talk to the committee members beforehand about whether they plan to restrict themselves to the standard topics.
