You will be questioned by two separate committees: one in your major area and one in your minor area. Each committee consists of two or three faculty members selected at random. The Dynamics and Controls committee will have at least one of three members specializing in controls and at least one specializing in dynamics. Similarly the Solid Mechanics and Materials committee will have at least one member in solid mechanics and one in materials. And the Fluids and Heat Transfer committee at least one in fluid mechanics and one in heat tranfer.
