Live Lecture Checklist

Setup
-
Whiteboard: Is the whiteboard ready on Realmeet?
- Photohouse at 760 x 515 pixels, maximized.
- Set to save to the right directory and file (currently, 01/19/01, you
should save to public_html/whitebrd/0.gif on Dr. Van Dommelen's Unix disk)
- Is the drawing pen is selected?
- Is the right pen thickness and color set? (toolbox and color circle.)
The pen can be used as mouse. It is recommended that you use the
'New' (white) and 'Save' (floppy) buttons to save and start blank
screens. Remember to keep saving to 0.gif, replacing the previous
file. There must be a few seconds between successive file saves so
that your Ewan window has time enough to save one file before you
overwrite it with the next. If you need a real mouse, there is a
wireless one on the shelf below the table that must be used on the
drawing pad.
-
Chat window: Did you login? After answering a question in
the chat window, hit return in its text box to reset the color.
-
Buttons: Are the web page buttons working? (After testing,
right-click in this frame and select Back.)
-
TA: Is the TA watching that all goes well?
-
Real Producer: Has the Real Producer been started? There
should be two identical windows next to each other (being what is
being received from the camera/screen and what is sent to the server.)
-
Mikes: Is the wireless mike working? Chandra wants the
receiver box volume knob at 10:30, Van Dommelen and Hollis at 12
o'clock. Check that the color bar in the Real Producer window is
showing sufficient volume when you talk, and when the TA
talks. Detailed settings are here.
-
Cameras: Are the cameras working? Are the presets going to the
right corners?
-
Switch: Is the switch screen/camera working? The switch should
be set to show the computer screen.
-
Projector: Is the computer screen projector working?
-
Magnifying glass: Is the magnifying glass working?
-
Telnet: Did you login using EWAN? Did you run the savebrd
command?
-
E-mail: Check your E-mail about 5 minutes before class time
in the telnet window.
-
Attendance: Enter 'presence' in the telnet window to see the
remote attendance. Use the spacebar to scroll the screen.
-
Start: Select 'Starting Screen' from the LECTURE NOTES menu
to start the lecture. After that the TA can switch to the camera.
