Netmeeting

Description

Netmeeting allows you to contact the professor remotely to get help:

Netmeeting is video conferencing software that allows two-way voice and video communication. You can see who you are talking to. It also has a whiteboard for drawing formulae and pictures on. That makes it more attractive than simply calling the professor on the phone.

Netmeeting is currently limited to two users with live audio. For help sessions open to the entire class, only the chat program and the whiteboard will be used.

How to obtain it

The software can be obtained from Microsoft. At the time of this writing the software was available for Windows 95/98 and NT. You need version 3 or higher. It ran fine on a Pentium 133 portable with 32 Mb RAM over a phone line but was very buggy on a Pentium 60 with 16 Mb on a LAN.

Netmeeting is not available for Mac. CuSeeMe Pro should be, as far as I know, and should be able to connect with Netmeeting. Unfortunately, we do not have experience with CU-SeeMe for the MAC.
