To Attending ClassesNonlocal students are students that are not located in Tallahassee or Panama City. Nonlocal students need the hardware and software listed under 'Distance Tools' in addition to the hardware and software listed as 'Basic Tools'. After you have set up and become familiar with this hardware and software, and well before the semester starts, you should try to download an example lecture. Go to the M.E. Web page (http://www.eng.fsu.edu/me/) and follow the path to the web courses: Courseware/ Web Courses/ Web Course Listing/. Follow the instructions there about how to configure your browser and player. Then click on EML 5060 and select the section 'Archived Lectures' from the 'COURSE INFORMATION' drop-down box. Load any active link to test your configuration.
Next, still well before the semester starts, contact the Web Education Assistant to verify your computer capabilities. The Assistant will ask you to scan a picture of yourself and send it over and will also set up a time for a practice live lecture.
You also need to fill out a form and fax it over: Go back to the same EML 5060 web page but now select 'Change personal info' from the 'STUDENT TOOLS' drop-down box. Print out this form, fill it out, and sign it. Do not forget to select a password in the password field. Fax over the completed form to the departmental FAX number, (850) 410-6337, attention of the Web Education Assistant.
