Message from the Dean
Welcome to the website of the College of Engineering of Florida A&M and Florida State Universities, a unique teaching and research institution in Tallahassee, the capital city of Florida. Whether you are only exploring, or are currently a member of the College, I hope you enjoy your visit to our website.
Founded in 1982 as a joint venture of two highly prestigious universities in the Southeast United States, the College is in an extraordinarily beautiful location in Tallahassee, surrounded by a luxurious golf course and a research and development campus, Innovation Park, which houses the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, The Center for Advanced Power Systems(CAPS), High Performance Materials Institute, and other advanced technology research and development organizations. The College's state-of-the-art building complex serves over 2000 students and over 200 faculty and support staff. The College is a leading academic institution with excellent records of achievement in research and public service. It offers BS, MS and Ph.D. programs in chemical and biomedical, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, industrial and manufacturing, and mechanical engineering departments. The College has attracted more than 90 outstanding faculty members from all over the world. Thousands of young, intelligent and self-motivated men and women have attended the College in the last two decades, receiving over 6000 degrees. These graduates are a diverse group of engineers, from many races, ethnicities, and nationalities.
The College has positioned itself to become a cutting-edge research center in engineering and technology. It's faculty members and researchers have been recognized by their peers as leading scholars in their disciplines, supported annually by over $20 million in research grants from both public and private sources. The College looks forward to continued growth, currently planning the addition of two more buildings.
