About
Goals
The NSF FREEDM Systems Center is building the Energy Internet.
The Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) initiative is the product of a collaborative effort between Florida A&M University, Florida State University, North Carolina State University, Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Arizona State University to establish secure, sustainable, and clean energy. a. The goals specifically pertaining to the FAMU FREEDM Center include:
- Investigating, developing, and delivering working, optimal lithium-air batteries.
- Analyzing physical changes of electrodes in rechargeable batteries due to charge/discharge cycles.
- Minimizing irreversible processes via electrode modification to improve the capacity, efficiency, and cycle life of rechargeable batteries.
- Recruiting undergraduate students with an interest and/or background in renewable energy initiatives and encourage further pursuit in this field after graduation.
Resources
The Engineering Research Center (ERC) comprises of resources students from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University. They include:
- Electrochemical & Renewable Energy Research Lab
- The FREEDM Research + Education Lab
- The Power Science Laboratory
