Assessment

System for Assessment and Evaluation of the Bachelor of Science Degree Programs

The department sees ABET EC-2000 as encouraging each engineering department to pursue its own unique Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program educational objectives in accordance with its own environment and stakeholder demands. ABET EC-2000 also stipulates that the outcomes of program implementation must be assessed and evaluated regularly, and the results of such assessments and evaluations must be utilized as needed for program improvement.

We shall use a variety of assessment methods to examine the effectiveness of the BS in Electrical Engineering and BS in Computer Engineering degree programs in meeting their desired program educational objectives. Data will be gather periodically through student, faculty, employer, recruiter and alumni evaluation instruments. The results of each evaluation will be a set of recommendations for program improvement to be adopted by the faculty as described by the evaluation process flow diagram. The table given below summarizes the major assessment methods used by the department for continous program improvement. It also includes the frequency of the assessment and its evaluation and the objective of the assessment method. Detailed descriptions for each assessment method are given in each link.
