Electrical and Computer Engineering Students Win the 2012 IEEE SouteastCon

Congratulations are in order for the SoutheastCon 1A Senior Design Team for winning the 2012 IEEE SoutheastCon Student Hardware Competition held March 15-18, 2012.

The student team members are:

  • Keenan Barnes
  • John Bevis
  • Raquel Cain
  • Diego Flores
  • Heather Luidhardt

This team beat out over 50 other teams from around the southeast US and Jamaica, which makes up the IEEE Region 3. The team's robot named 'i-GAR' competed in 3 preliminary rounds and a winner-takes-all final round of the top 8 competitors out of the preliminary rounds. In every round i-GAR completed 11 laps correctly interpreting every station and scoring 550-560 points.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty and the College's Interim Dean offered their congratulatory comments on the team's win:
