Dr. Dale joined Florida State University in 2003 as director of the Center for Advanced Power Systems.
Prior to CAPS, Dr. Dale was manager of Strategic Technologies and Government Relations for ABB Power Technologies Division in Raleigh, North Carolina. He joined ABB in 1992 as Manager of the Power Systems Center in ABB's Electric Systems Technology Institute and subsequently was manager of the Institute's Equipment and Materials Center.
From 1984 to 1992 he led research and development programs in the area of electric utility systems at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Previously he worked for the Westinghouse R&D Center in Pittsburgh, PA on high voltage dielectrics and systems.
Dr. Dale served as Congressional Science Fellow (IEEE) on the staff of the Committee of Science Space and Technology in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC in 1986/87.
He received B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and high voltage physics at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. Dale is a Fellow of the IEEE and member of CIGRE, AAAS and ASNE.
