Graduate Admissions
On behalf of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), thank you for your interest in the graduate program at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. The program offers both a Master of Science in electrical engineering (MSEE) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in electrical engineering.
To initiate the admission process and to request an application for Admissions to the graduate program, please contact directly the respective Office of Admissions of either FAMU or FSU. There is no departmental application.
Below is the contact information for you to begin your correspondence with the Office of Admissions:

After the application has been processed through the Office of Admissions, it will be forwarded to the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering to be evaluated. Please note that no decision will be made on your application until all required supporting materials, official transcripts, test scores, certification of financial responsibility form and proof of financial support, and your application fee have been received.
Application deadline dates for Florida A&M University are listed on the graduate admissions deadlines page.

The successful candidate's scores are usually much higher than these minimum requirements. The meeting of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
Graduate program applicants may be considered by the department for graduate teaching assistantships (GTAs) or graduate research assistantships (GRAs). However, these positions are limited and their distribution is extremely competitive. No additional form is required to apply for these positions. Assessment of an applicant for these positions is based on the test scores, academic record, and letters of recommendations. If you are selected for one of these positions, the Office of the Admissions will notify you of the offer.
Admission into the graduate program and the awarding of financial assistance are considered to be separate processes. Your admission is based on your meeting all the requirements set by the department and the university. However, you must be accepted for admission into the graduate program of the department before you are considered for either kind of financial assistance.
If you are admitted into the ECE graduate program, please notify the ECE Department of your intent to attend the university no fewer than 30 days before the first day of classes. You will also need to arrive in Tallahassee at least two weeks before classes begin to find a place to live and to acquaint yourself with the city and school. If you are offered an assistantship, you must notify the ECE Department of your acceptance of this offer no fewer than 60 days prior to the first day of classes. Failure to give this notification will result in the withdrawal of the offer.
The Electrical & Computer Engineering Graduate Program DOES NOT have a different application deadline. However, since visas are taking longer to obtain, it is best that the application and all requested information are received several months prior to the deadline.
