Welcome to the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering's Mechanical
Engineering Research Highlights page. This page provides a general
overview of the current research activities in the department.
It is based on presentations made by the M.E. Faculty in the
Fall 2002 Seminars Series. The presentations demonstrated that
the ME department has many dynamic research and scholarly activities
that are recognized nationally. This page covers only a portion
of our research program, emphasizing only our most recent endeavors
at the leading edge of technological development.
The Department is committed to both basic research
programs, which expand the frontiers of knowledge, and applied
research programs designed to solve the present and projected
technological needs of society. Major research activities are
focused in five primary areas:
- Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer,
- Structural Mechanics,
- Material Science and Engineering,
- Robotics and Controls, and
- Advanced Power and Magnet Technology.
Each of these areas has one or more state-of-the-art
laboratories. Please see our Research Laboratory Descriptions
for more information about our research programs. In addition,
research is conducted in cooperation with the National High
Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), the Center for Advanced Power
Systems (CAPS), the Center for Materials Research and Technology
(MARTECH), and others.
