Welcome to the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering. Within the Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering Department, studies are broadly organized into three (3) areas: Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Industrial Systems. B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. programs teach leading-edge techniques for understanding systems, streamlining processes, and increasing the overall efficiency of manufacturing and industrial organizations.

Both the College of Engineering and the IME Department are currently expanding their curricula, outreach programs and industrial partnerships.

In addition to training in engineering theories and practices, enrollment in the IME Department includes such benefits as:

  • Industrial Interaction
Our students are eligible for scholarships, internships, co-ops, research contracts and part-time jobs in industry. Through interaction with industry, students are exposed to new ideas in a hands-on environment. They graduate with the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical work experience that employers seek
  • Mastery Learning Program (MLP)
The MLP offers students the chance to work intensively with upper-division peer tutors for a short period of time. Through the MLP, determined students get the boost they need to get through difficult material - thus minimizing the chance of poor grades.
  • Placement Services
Students take an active role in their academic and/or professional career planning. Using the College's Placement Services, they locate and take advantage of opportunities within industry and academe.
  • Location
The College is located in scenic Tallahassee, Florida. As the state's capitol, Tallahassee enjoys cultural and economic prosperity. At the same time, the city has great natural beauty and offers numerous recreational opportunities (including canoeing, fishing, hiking, and camping).
