The Certificate Program in Water and Environmental Resources Engineering

This certificate program provides a specialized curriculum for engineers working to ensure that Floridians and Americans have drinking water that is clean and safe to drink. These engineers need the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide for the effective protection of our country and state's rivers, wetlands, aquifers, and coastal and ocean waters to sustain fish, plants, and wildlife, as well as recreational, subsistence and economic activities. In congruence with the mission and goals of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Certificate Program in Water and Environmental Resources Engineering will provide technical skills to engineers in restoring and protecting watersheds and aquatic ecosystems to improve human health, enhance water quality, reduce flooding, and providing habitat for wildlife.

Civil and Environmental Engineering professors have successfully delivered courses to graduate students throughout the state through the Florida Engineering Education Delivery System (FEEDS) for over 15 yeras. Environmental engineering is an emerging field, and engineers throughout the United States and abroad must receive retraining or updates on a continuous basis. Students applying to the Certificate Program in Water and Environmental Resources Engineering must meet the prerequisites for required courses or obtain approval from the Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering or appropriate designee. Courses may be take for academic credit or non-credit CEUs.
