CHECKLIST FOR MASTER'S DEGREE


First Semester 
 •If appropriate, transfer up to 6 semester hours may be approved 
of graduate courses taken at other accredited institutions 
towards your FAMU-FSU master's program. 

 •Choose a major professor and advisor. 

 •Request the appointment of a Supervisory Committee. 

 •Develop an approved Plan of Study. 
  Semester Prior to Graduation 
•Inform the Department Graduate Coordinator of your 
graduation date. 

•Complete a Graduation Check-list, and get it approved by the
Graduate Committee. 

•If you have any C, D, or I grades, make an appointment with the 
Graduate Committee to discuss your options for meeting 
graduation requirements. 

Semester of Graduation

•Comply with Graduate School thesis and report "Deadline Dates."

•Register for at least one hour of thesis or thesis option.

•Schedule the Thesis or Project Defense with the Supervisory Committee. Inform the Department
Graduate Coordinator of plans to take the examination, and reserve a room.

•Provide the Supervisory Committee members copies of the thesis or report at least
one week in advance of the oral examination.

•Have the original signature page signed by the Supervisory Committee members.

•Submit final thesis or report to the department, College Dean, and Graduate School.
