Welcome to the website of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. I hope that you will find interesting and exciting information about our programs.
The Department offers programs leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees. Undergraduate students may select the civil or environmental curriculum option to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree. We take great pride in the fact that we provide our students with the needed skills and knowledge to respond to today's engineering challenges.
Our 246 undergraduate and 55 graduate students of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds are enrolled in a program designed to embrace the changing face of the civil engineering industry. Continuing the mission of our College, the Department of Civil Engineering provides greater participation of women and minorities and offers to all students a learning environment that includes innovation and excellence in teaching, research and service.
The Department's 17 faculty members, with national and international reputations, offer courses and research opportunities which focus on civil engineering application and design in the areas of structural engineering and mechanics, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic and water resources, transportation and environmental engineering. Our faculty are dedicated to providing the highest quality education to students, to instill the importance of life-long learning and professional development, and to inspire responsibility, integrity and ethics. A strong system of advising, mentoring and tutoring ensures that our students successfully progress through the curriculum.
