Wesson is First to Complete ONR Fellow Program
Dr. Garlen Dale Wesson, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering, has been recognized as the first person to complete the Office of Naval Research Future Faculty Fellowship Program for Historically Black Engineering Colleges.
The objective of the program is to enhance the number of engineering students pursuing the doctoral degree with an expressed commitment to teach at an HBCU college of engineering. The fellowship includes a stipend for up to three years as well as tuition and travel allowances.
Dr. Wesson received his B.S. from Illinois Tech, M.S. from Georgia Tech, and Ph.D. from Michigan State. He had industrial experience with Dow Chemical Co. where he was a senior production supervisor and senior product engineer. He has received several professional and academic awards. He taught at Delta College and Prairie View A&M before joining the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in January 1996.
