Engineering Design Project Day
COE Executive Council Proclaims November, 23rd, 2011 as "Engineering Design Project Day"
The Executive Council of the College of Engineering has proclaimed November 23rd, 2011 as "Engineering Design Project Day." All engineering students are encouraged to use this day to collaborate with teammates to finalize class and/or senior design projects. To facilitate this collaboration, all classes held on Wednesday, 11/23 at the College of Engineering will be suspended.
The proclamation notes that all undergraduate degree programs at the College are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Engineering Design Project Day Proclamation. It also mentions that ABET requires all engineering students to have the ability to design and function on multidisciplinary teams. Dr. Reginald Perry, engineering associate dean, commented that "the Council understands the time demands placed on engineering students to complete class and/or senior design projects during the final weeks of the semester. We hope that this day will give our students an opportunity to meet face-to-face as a group to help finalize their assignments." Faculty members who normally teach a class on Wednesday, 11/23 will be asked to hold office hours instead. A copy of the full proclamation approved by the Executive Council, which consists of all deans, department chairs, and academic directors, has been posted on the engineering web site located at http://www.famu.edu/engineering or http://www.eng.fsu.edu.
