Department Overview
The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, one of five departments in the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, Florida State University and Florida A&M University, is composed of an active faculty emphasizing a balance of teaching and research in forefront areas of modern chemical and biomedical engineering. Our Department emphasizes blending undergraduate and graduate student education and research in striving to make an impact in the two fields.
We offer a Bachelor of Science (ABET-accredited) degree in Chemical Engineering. Undergraduate students may choose one of three major options within the BS degree in Chemical Engineering, including Chemical, Materials, and Biomedical Engineering. Graduate degrees (MS and PhD) are granted in both Chemical Engineering and in Biomedical Engineering.
Major departmental research efforts are active in the following broad areas: Biomedical Imaging; Cellular and Tissue Engineering; Multi-scale Theory, Modeling, and Simulations; Nanoscale Science and Engineering; Plasma Reaction Engineering; and Polymers and Complex Fluids.
