Community Service

The student chapter of ASCE at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering actively participates in several different community service projects throughout the year. These are just a few of our favorite organizations to get excited about!

MATHCOUNTS
MATHCOUNTS is a middle school mathematics competition held in the spring of every year at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Middle school students from around the Tallahassee area compete against each other in hopes of moving on to compete at the state, and eventually, the national level. Volunteering for MATHCOUNTS is a great way to help sculpt some of the brightest mathematics students into future engineers!

Challenger Learning Center
One of the great benefits of attending the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is that we are affiliated with the Challenger Learning Center. They are always looking for engineering students to help promote math, science, and engineering among grade school students throughout Leon County. Opportunities include such events as teaching students to build and test robots made out of Legos, judging science fairs, or even just talking about your experiences as an engineering student to spark interest in the field.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building “simple, decent, and affordable” homes which are sold at no profit and are built through the use of volunteer labor. This is a great opportunity for ASCE members to get some hands-on construction experience and test out our civil engineering knowledge.
