Scooter
Scooter is the newest member of our family.  We adopted him in April 1999. He is a sweet Black Lab/sighthound/German Shepherd Dog mix. He is lanky, with long legs; sometimes he looks like a cow, especially when his floppy ears go straight out to the side of his head (like in the picture here).

Actually, Scooter had come to our house a year earlier, as a foster dog. He was still a pup then (less than a year old). He was somewhat timid, afraid of new things, situations, and people. But since he is so intelligent and a quick-learner, he quickly adapted to our family. (You should have seen how proud of himself Scooter was when we lost the fear of walking up and down the stairs! Nowadays, he tackles a flight of stairs with leaps and bounds.) After a few weeks of being at our house, Scooter found a wonderful adopter. But no one knew that Scooter depended so much on having other dogs around. So because it wasn't a good match, we took Scooter back to our home and haven't regretted it!

Scooter is such a goofball. He loves to play with his toys and with his doggie siblings, Chessie and Jake. He also loves going to our local doggie park, running around with all the dogs there and splashing in the creek. Scooter is so sweet and wonderful, and we're so happy that he's become a part of our family!
