Chessie

Chessie is a 3.5-year old mixed breed of sorts (probably Lancashire Heeler, which is related to the Corgi and Manchester Terrier) that we adopted from the Charlottesville/Albemarle SPCA in May 1996. She's a cutie pie that loves to nibble on grass and chase bugs, birds, squirrels, and rabbits. Playing fetch with any of her toys is another favorite of Chessie's. Oh yeah, when Mommy convinces her, she'll do obedience work (she'll do almost anything for treats!). She's gone through 3 obedience training classes. In fact, she just successfully graduated from Level II Obedience at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Kennel Club

Despite her small size, Chessie acts as if she's a much bigger dog. The exception is when she becomes shy of other people (then she hides behind Mommy and Daddy but is coaxed into sniffing you if you have a treat). But she has come a long way from when she first joined our family.

Chessie thinks that two brothers, Jake and Scooter, are pretty neat (oh, stuffed toys that move!) and even tries to play tug, chase, and other big dog games with them, even though they are three to four times bigger than she is!
